The Rappold Winterthur Group was founded by Ferdinand Rappold in 1876. Today it is the third largest manufacturer of bonded abrasives for industrial applications in Europe.
The company’s rapid development of grinding and cutting-off wheels was based both on product and production oriented research and on a policy of continuous investment. Along with the group companies in Germany, the United States of America, Finland and Sweden an excellent international reputation for grinding products including diamond and CBN wheels was built.
In 1992 WST Winterthur Schleiftechnik AG in Winterthur, Switzerland was taken over. With this important step into the future it was possible to supplement our product range with high-precision vitrified bonded grinding wheels. Today in Villach, Austria on a 23.000 m˛ site, more than 300 employees manufacture bonded abrasives using state-of-the-art manufacturing processes. These modern bonded abrasives deliver perfect grinding results and an ideal solution can be found for the most complex grinding problems. A team of specialists with extensive technical knowledge and experience in grinding technology serve our customers worldwide.
In early 1999 the Rappold Winterthur-Group merged their operations with SlipNaxos of Sweden. Today, the Abrasive Technology Group offers secure employment for over 600 people and achieved a consolidated turnover of 78 million EURO in 2001. |
