In 1992 Winterthur Group joined forces with Rappold Schleifmittel, a leading Austrian manufacturer of grinding wheels, who looks back on 120 years of experience of successfully making bonded abrasives. In early 1999 the Rappold-Winterthur Group merged their operations with SlipNaxos of Sweden. Today, the new Abrasive Technology Group offers secure employment for 600 people.
